In order to speak to other users, you need to join a server. Servers host channels that you and other users can join to talk to each other. All voice data is transmitted directly through the server.
How do you connect to a server?
There are a few different ways to connect to a server which we will look at individually:
- Join a featured server
This is a good way to start if you've never used TeamSpeak before. All you need to do is click on one of our featured servers on the dashboard and this will take you straight to the server.
- Discover a community
If you click on Bookmarks → Community Discovery (look for the 🔍 icon), You can use the search bar to explore available servers, then simply click on one to join.
- Join a private server
If you have been provided the details for a private server, you can use the search bar in the top left corner to search for the IP/domain/Server Nickname, or you can use the search bar on
I'm on the server, so where can I voice chat?
Usually the default channel is moderated and doesn't allow communication (like a welcome area which is generally the starting point on a server). All you need to do is double-click on another channel to join them. There, you can talk to other people.
On most servers, you also have the option to create a custom channel for you and your friends. Just tell them where you are and they can join too!
