Server is crashing with error "epoll: Function not implemented". How to fix?

If you are either running a 2.4.x (or older) kernel and/or glibc older than 2.3.2. your linux system is lacking the implementation of "epoll" which is described here.

Note the paragraph about versions: "The epoll API was introduced in Linux kernel 2.5.44. Support was added to glibc in version 2.3.2."
